Lupita Nyong'o - 12 Years a Slave - Best Supporting Actress Oscar Predictions 2014

Jennifer Lawrence received some major praise for her performance in American Hustle and coming off her Oscar win last year for another David O. Russell film and her Box Office success in The Hunger Games franchise, she seems certain to at least be in the conversation. I don’t have Oprah as the frontrunner in this category, although I never want to underestimate the power of Oprah and how many friends she has in the Academy. I didn’t particularly care for June Squibb’s performance in Nebraska (my problem was more the writing than the performance), but others seemed to like her so she might sneak in. — Alex Carlson
