Best Documentary Oscar Predictions 2014 - The Act of Killing

Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing is probably the year’s most talked about documentary that was nominated this year and that conversation may contribute to some Academy success. However, there are many within the Academy who are turned off by films that stray away from the form too much, so that may hurt its chances. I think that documentary legends like Errol Morris and Werner Herzog signing on as executive directors might propel the film to a victory, however. — Alex Carlson
