Austin Film Critics Association Awards 2011 Go to ‘Hugo’ and ‘Drive’

View the Updated Precursor Charts

It has been a while since Hugo landed a prize for Best Film and it has been even longer since Tilda Swinton received a Best Actress nod. Those dry streaks have now ended thanks to the Austin Film Critics Association who announced their annual awards earlier today. That group from the south broke the trend in a few crucial categories like Best Actor, where they awarded the underdog Michael Shannon for his performance in Take Shelter. They also made an unusual choice for Best Original Score, giving it to the low-budget alien hit Attack the Block.
