Bigelow Becomes First Female DGA Winner

The Hurt Locker continues its push towards a 2010 Best Picture win with another major precursor award. Kathryn Bigelow has become the first female director ever to win the Best Director of a Feature Film Award from the Directors Guild of America. Bigelow beats out her ex-husband, James Cameron for Avatar, Lee Daniels for Precious, Jason Reitman for Up in the Air, and Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds.

What do you think? Does this cement Bigelow’s Oscar win?

  • Not by a long shot. I still have nightmares that “Avatar” is going to win both Best Picture and Best Director. But “Hurt Locker” has to be the favorite right now. So far, it’s the best film I’ve seen this year.

Note: “A Serious Man” is coming out on DVD soon, so we’ll see if that’s as good as you advertised it to be.

    Yay for Bigelow!
I still think that Avatar will win best picture at the Oscars though.
@G1000 I too am planning on checking out “A Serious Man”.

This won’t affect her chances. Why? THEY ALREADY VOTED.

  • @Andr913

They haven’t even announced the nominations yet, so no they haven’t already voted.
