Faith Lost? 135 Shots That Will Restore Your Faith in Cinema

135 Shots to Restore Your Faith in Cinema

Have the recent installment of Hollywood offers found you losing your faith in the film industry? Well, a Vimeo user named Flavorwire (via The Playlist) seeks to restore your belief with a new montage called “135 Shots That Will Restore Your Faith in Cinema.”

These montages are always fun for a game of name that movie, where a movie fan gets to try and pick out all the films we can name based on the brief glimpses. There are scenes from films by Kubrick, Malick, Tarkovsky, Lean, Polanski, Hitchcock, Woody Allen, and dozens more. Most of the shots are only a few seconds long, which leaves out some of the great tracking shots throughout cinema history, which are some of my personal favorite shots.

  • A lot of movies were done several times, which made this montage weaker in my eyes. I was also intrigued that ‘A Matter of Life and Death’ was the Powell and Pressburger film of choice here.
