The May 26 release date for Melancholia is for Denmark. I wouldn’t be surprised if it has the same release patern as Antichrist where it gets released in the U.S. in October and take over a year to get to DVD.

And Alex, I’m surprised that you have Deathly Hallows part 2 since you had The Tree of Life at number one at list of your most anticipated films of 2011.

As for me, my most anticipated movies of the Summer are:
    1) Winnie the Pooh (Go ahead and laugh)
I’m probably all over it since it takes me back to when I was a kid, but the mediocre reception it received back in the U.K. and the fact that its not even an hour long almost makes me want to remove this from the list.

    2) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
In honor of the fact that Winnie the Pooh and Deathly Hallows 2 share the same release date, my friends and I are dressing as Winnie the Pooh characters for the Harry Potter midnight release, since I couldn’t convince them to go to Winnie the Pooh instead.

    3)The Tree of Life/Super 8
Despite not having seen a Malick film I am curious as to what is going on, same with Super 8

    4)Another Earth
    Alex this is for you:

    5)Cowboys & Aliens

    Honorable Mentions:
The romantic comedies and romantic films don’t look as bad as previous Summers, So I might catch Crazy, Stupid, Love, Just
Friends, and female centric films like Bridesmaids and Bad teacher.

Oh and there’s Like Crazy and The Perfect Host, because I love Pierce. And I’m also curious as to how the Fright Night remake update will be (and it had David Tenant). And finally The Beaver, X-Men First class and Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides.

  • Hey – when I use “Rss feed for this section” in my podcatcher I am only get .jpg files. Is theree another RSS feed I should be using?

  • My most anticipated films of this Summer very much echoes Phil’s list. I’m really excited for “Super 8”, “Melancholia”, and “Another Earth”. Those might be the top three for me. “Crazy Stupid Love” is up there for me, because I expected nothing from the trailer, yet it had such a maturity to it. I’m also very excited for “Friends with Benefits”, which looks to have the same comedic style that made “Easy A” so endearing to me.

“Thor” is looking more promising as it approaches, but mostly as a Summer popcorn fest.I have doubts on “Captain America”, mostly stemming from mediocre director Joe Johnston. I am excited for “Deathly Hallows: Part 2”, be it far less than I was before. I thought “Part 1” broke down all the boundaries that had been set up for the series in a fantastic manner. I feel like “Part 2” will be something of an upset.

  • @tacitus – Above I added the link to subscribe in iTunes and subscribe to Feedburner. You probably want to do the Feedburner: http://feeds.feedburner.com/filmmisery

Oh and Don’t Be Afraiud of the dark, even though its not a film based on the Nickelodean show i grew up with.

    It does look good though

  • Thanks for the feed – however the feedburner feed is not working with my podcatcher (doppler). Also tried the xml version. Other feedburner feeds work just fine.
