FMP Ep. 015 – ‘Tabloid’

Phil was away this weekend at an event called “Comic-Convention” in San Diego or something like that where young people from around the country dressed funny and hung out together. His replacement this week was Film Misery contributor Davin Lacksonen. Together we talked about Errol Morris’ Tabloid, Harry Potter criticisms and the joy of Kubrick among other things.

In response to Weird Dave’s question, I would have to say Dolores Umbridge. Whenever most of the other characters came onscreen, I’d think “Oh, that’s Daniel Radcliff” as opposed to “Oh, that’s Harry Potter;” however, Imelda Staunton was never Imelda Staunton during her performance. She was always Umbridge to me, and that’s what really makes her performance a success in my eyes. As far as my favorite book character goes, I’d say Snape. For the movies, I’d probably say Umbridge again.
Also, are you guys not doing send-in music anymore, or did you just not have any this week? If you’re still taking in indie musician submissions, I’d be able to send in more songs (that will not have a super low volume level this time).

The woman who plays Dolores Umbridge by far gives the most book-accurate performance. Umbridge is an incredibly terrifying character, and she nails it.

  • @Kurt – We are absolutely accepting music submissions, we just didn’t have any this week. Send me your stuff and I’ll play it on next week’s show.

I agree with you both that Imelda Staunton as Umbridge is the best performance.
