  • The first half of 2011 has, in my opinion, been quite a marginal failure. I doubt any film will make my top ten at the close of the year, but the one that’s most likely is “Certified Copy”. It’s the most carefully constructed, constantly intriguing film I’ve seen all year. The best animated film is “Rango”, but with more than its share of flaws. The best performance came from Kristen Wiig in “Bridesmaids”, which surprisingly brought across a fascinating amount of depth to a character which could’ve easily been another comedic stereotype.

  • @Duncan – Ooh, I totally disagree with that. I think my top three films from this year would have made my top five in any of the past three years.

  • Asif Khan

there are 3 or 4 movies that were really well reviewed but i haven’t seen them but with what i saw my top 5 of first half are :

    1. Source Code
    2. Bridesmaids
    3. Win Win
    4. Super 8
    5. Rango

other favorites are Jane Eyre, X Men first class, Thor, Barney’s Version……

  • I have a post coming up this week to share my top 5 so far.

  • Fav film so far: Tree of Life. So glad I got to see it in NYC on opening weekend, because until now it has not reached my city despite their claim that last weekend was its wide release.

  • Calvin

Bridesmaids, Midnight in Paris, or Beginners. No particular order; the 3 were so different from one another that I can’t give an order.

  • Jose

Midnight in Paris, Kung Fu Panda 2, and Scream 4.

  • @Alex Wow! Really? Well I’ll be glad to take a look at your picks once they’re up later this week. Here’s mine.

    5. Rango
    4. Bridesmaids
    3. Scre4m (I’m pronouncing it this way till the day I die.)
    2. Midnight in Paris
    1. Certified Copy
