‘Green Zone’ to Compete for Least Faithful Film Adaptation

The trailer was released today for Paul Greengrass’s upcoming Iraq war thriller Green Zone starring Matt Damon. The film is supposedly based on the book Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Life in Iraq’s Green Zone by Rajiv Chandrasekaran, a book that I reviewed earlier this year and loved. The book is a non-fiction look at the muck-up of the Iraq war that was entirely motivated by politics, rather than actual war strategy. In the book there is no protagonist, no narrative, and hardly any action.

However, the movie trailer that was released today on Yahoo! Movies implies some pretty heavy action. It’s more action thriller than calculated war analysis, but it’s probably all for the best. Nobody does action like Paul Greengrass and I’m enthusiastically looking forward to this film. Check out the trailer below:
