Two years ago it was announced that the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was going to split into two films and the one question that has lingered on every muggle’s mind was where would the split happen? Months of speculation have ensued and rumors have been carelessly thrown around. Now Entertainment Weekly has cleared that speculation up in a preview post for one of their upcoming cover stories:
Part 1, by the way, will end at about Chapter 24 of the book, with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows that allow the bearer to conquer death.
There you have it. It’s not too much of a spoiler, and further ramps up my anticipation for the final two installments of this great franchise.
I would also like to take this time to publicly pat myself on the back for predicting this split a year and a half ago. I posted an article on April 22, 2009 with three possibilities for the two-film split and the third possibility that I came up with is awfully close:
Part 1 ends after the Malfoy Manor (Chapter 23). After being captured by Death Eaters, Harry, Hermione, and Ron are in the dungeon at the Malfoy Manor. Dobby shows up and begins saving prisoners, but before he gets to Harry and Ron, Bellatrix appears and she and Harry have a climactic confrontation he gets out of there just in time, but not before Dobby is mortally wounded by Bellatrix. Harry learns that he must not go after the Elder Wand. Before the credits roll, we see Voldemort opening Dumbledore’s tomb and taking the Elder Wand.
** Roll Credits **
Part 2 begins with the break-in to Gringott’s bank (Chapter 26). After which they convene with Lupin who has just announced that he and Tonks have had a baby.
Goosebumps? Let me take this time to bask in my own glory. </egotrip>
