The October Daily Trivia concluded over a week ago and it is time to move on to another competition. Congratulations must go out to Univarn who correctly guessed 12 of the Horror movies correctly, which was enough to win the competition. Thanks to everyone who participated and made the competition fierce.
The All-Time Top 100 has now been updated to include the results from last month. More people have been separating themselves from the pack and climbing up the leaderboard. One strong month is all it takes to make a dent in the competition. Will this be your month?
A new competition begins today called “The Sound of Musicals.” Every day, Monday through Saturday, I will be posting an audio clip from a song that is featured in a classic movie musical. Listen to the clip and name the movie.
This month’s prize will be a DVD copy of Oliver! This movie musical was nominated for 11 Oscars and won 5 including Best Picture. Much debate has surrounded whether or not this film was deserving of the 1968 Oscar, but it is undeniable that it is a fun musical. It is based on a stage musical that was itself based on Charles Dickens’ rags to riches story Oliver Twist. Featuring some memorable musical montages including “Consider Yourself” and “Who Will Buy”, Oliver! is a delightful and memorable film for all ages. Oliver is an unfortunate young orphan who has to escape from a workhouse when he has the audacity to ask for seconds at a meal. He falls in with the eccentric Fagin and his gang of pickpocketing boys where Oliver seeks to find his origins and avoid being taken by the brutish Bill Sykes. The movie includes excellent performances by Shani Wallis as Nancy and Ron Moody as Fagin.
Head on over to the Trivia page (which can be found under the Interactive tab above) and try your luck at today’s clip.
