New York Film Critics Online Jump on the ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Bandwagon

Emanuelle Riva, Amour, New York Film Critics Online Awards 2012

View the Updated Precursor Charts

The third precursor award on Sunday came from the New York Film Critics Online who offered a batch of winners that looks very similar to the few other groups that have announced already. Zero Dark Thirty and Kathryn Bigelow take the awards for Best Film and Best Director, respectively, with Daniel Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones of Lincoln taking Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Most notably, however, they have given their Best Actress award to Emanuelle Riva for her performance in Michael Haneke’s Amour. This victory now gives Riva the lead in the precursor race for Best Actress and makes her shot at an Oscar nomination seem all but secured.
