- ComingSoon.net reports that Ralph Fiennes is making his directorial debut with one of Shakespeare’s lesser known works, Coriolanus. William Hurt, Vanessa Redgrave, and Jessica Chastain have signed on to the movie. Fiennes will play the title role. This inspires me to go back and watch th 1984 BBC version of the play with Alan Howard.
- In a recent Screen Daily interview, John Cameron Mitchell mentions that Dianne Wiest, Sandra Oh, and Giancarlo Esposito have joined Aaron Eckhart and Nicole Kidman in his upcoming film Rabbit Hole. David Lindsay-Abaire’s play on which the film is based is fantastic and this should be a great film. Probably a Spirit award contender, not so much Oscar.
Lists for Fun:
- One of the most amusing lists I’ve seen in a long time just came out on the Daily Fill called “Beard Serious: 9 Comedians Who Turned to Beards When They Wanted the Laughter to Stop” about comedians who grew beards for dramatic films. Most of the films are just different comedies, but it’s still a fun, quick read.
- “Men Who Stare at Goats” can now creep its way up the Oscar charts as it has an official distributor. The film, which will star George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges, and Kevin Spacey and will be directed by Grant Heslov and is now being distributed by Overture Films. ComingSoon.net has the story.
