Official Trailer for ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II’

It’s finally here in all its High Definition glory. Apple Trailers brings us the first official trailer for the final film installment of the Harry Potter series – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II. I have made no secret about my enthusiasm to see this movie as I have closely followed every Potter movie and this trailer only increases the anticipation.

At first glance everything looks pretty solid. The two-minute trailer features very little dialogue, but many glimpses at highly anticipated scenes – the robbery of Gringott’s Bank, the confrontation between Harry and Voldemort, and of course the battle at Hogwarts. Based on the brief trailer it already appears that this film will have more CGI than any of the other installments, which is slightly disconcerting. I’ve always felt the series is most successful when the CGI is either non-existent or very subtle and they rely instead on the fantastic art direction. However, the massive magic-infused action scenes that take place do require some digital intervention.

I shall be one of the first to purchase tickets for the midnight showing when they go on sale in my area and one of the first to line-up the night of the release. I couldn’t be more excited to see this film and the trailer definitely did not dampen my enthusiasm.

Check out the trailer below or in High Definition at Apple Trailers and, as always, share your thoughts in the comments!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II will be in theatres in the U.S. on July 15, 2011.

I just want to point out how much I appreciate that the movies have evolved.

If this movie was in the same style as the first movie in the series, it would be absolutely awful.

  • Yep, I don’t like this at all.

“Let’s finish this the way we started! TOGETHER!”

**Jumps out of a castle overdramatically into a seemingly bottomless abyss**

I hate to be the Grinch at Christmas, but this honestly doesn’t look like much more than CGI chaos to me. But I’ve stuck with them so far and number six pleasantly surprised me, so we’ll have to wait and see.
