Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) Oscar Poll 2013

There are very few certainties about this years Academy Awards, but there are a many scenarios that are almost guaranteed not to happen. Beasts of the Southern Wild was a surprise nominee for Best Director, for instance, but Benh Zeitlin seems like a pretty big long shot for the victory. With no directing or screenplay nomination, Les Miserables seems to be a pretty unlikely Best Picture winner. There are many films and performances that seem like sure thing to lose on Sunday night.

For this week’s poll, we want to know which films you want to see win, regardless of their likelihood. I have chosen five scenarios that seem pretty unlikely to happen at the Oscars this weekend. Vote for the upset that you would most like to see and be sure to share your reasoning in the comments!

With the Daniel Day-Lewis option, I have a deep feeling that he could be upset. Probably won’t happen but I just have that feeling. I have yet to see “Lincoln” so I can’t judge the performance, but I did see “Flight” and believed Denzel’s performance was simply one of the best I’ve ever seen and I’d love for him to win the award.

Michael Haneke should win best director. I would have picked The Master if it was nominated in a few other categories.
