In this week’s Q & A, members of the Film Misery staff discussed our annual Holiday traditions that have to do with movies. It seems there is always a favorite movie to visit this time of year and it might be difficult to choose a single one. Last year Davin and I counted down our 12 favorite Christmas movies, giving some insight into the types of movies that we each appreciate.
For this poll I had to narrow down the options, so I tried to focus on movies that were explicitly about Christmas. This eliminated great options like The Apartment, Fanny and Alexander, and Meet Me in St. Louis. However, I definitely included the “Other” option to ensure that everybody’s favorites were included. If your selection is not listed on the chart below, please explain in the comments.
It is a difficult decision for me between A Christmas Story, which I have watched annually since childhood without fatigue, or It’s a Wonderful Life, which never ceases to choke me up and continually proves its timelessness. In the end I have to go with the latter, simply for the unmatched quality of filmmaking.
