The King’s Speech has all but cemented a win for Best Picture having now won the top awards from the Producers Guild of America, the Directors Guild of America, and now the Screen Actors Guild. The announcement of it winning the Best Ensemble prize capped off a mostly predictable night for movies at the Screen Actors Guild Awards with popular frontrunners taking home expected prizes for their respective categories.
Christian Bale, Colin Firth, and Natalie Portman have proven to be both domestic and international critical and guild favorites having swept almost every major award this year. Melissa Leo continues to emerge as the frontrunner for Best Supporting Actress as she lengthens her lead over her co-star Amy Adams, True Grit‘s Hailee Steinfeld, and Animal Kingdom‘s Jacki Weaver.
