The Making of ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’

I’m not ashamed to say it – I absolutely love Harry Potter. Say what you will about the series’ childish nature or the simplicity of J.K. Rowling’s prose, but I am a certified Potter-holic. I have read every book cover to cover several times and I’ve seen every movie in theatrical release at least once. That’s right – I’m a 23-year old male and I adore Harry Potter.

Part of the genius of the book series is that it creates a totally unique world that one can get completely lost in. Reading with the books with a completely American perspective, many of the London landmarks even seem fantastical. The books are pure escapism and I delight in every word.

When it was announced that the entire Potter universe was going to be re-created for a theme park I was giddy with excitement. The Butterbeer, the broomsticks, the Quiddich – it was all going to be there in a theme park to be called “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.” On Sunday a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” aired on NBC. If you aren’t able to make it to the park this year, this making of video is the next best thing to being there:
