The Proposal premieres as number one at the box office this week knocking off The Hangover from the top spot. The Jack Black and Michael Cera caveman comedy Year One opened to a somewhat disappointing $20.2 million, with a lower per theatre average than The Hangover. Woody Allen’s Whatever Works pulled in $281,000 in only 9 theatres, giving it the highest per theatre average of the week.

  • I saw Year One but I’m going to see The Proposal next. I’m a long time Sandra Bullock fan and I’m sure she’s great with Ryan Reynolds. Go Sandy!

  • I think Sandra Bullock is a better actress than the films she often stars in. I think she’d be brilliant in an Indy drama.
