The Summer of Disney Dominance Continues

Despite less than positive reviews, all three new releases this weekend had strong openings at the Box Office. In a surprise that not many probably saw coming, the animated rodent comedy G-Force topped Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. G-Force joins Up as the second Disney movie of the summer to open at number one.

Another strong showing came from one of my favorite movies of the summer (500) Days of Summer, which just barely missed the top 10. It had the second highest per theatre average of the week, earning an average of $19,176 in 85 theatres. Next week it expands further and has a good chance to break the top 10.

In other box office news, Transformers 2 broke into the top 10 grossers of all-time. It continues to cement its position as the most successful bad movie of all-time.
