Trailer for Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lovely Bones’

One of the most anticipated films of the fall finally got its trailer released. It will be played before Julie & Julia in theatres this weekend or you can watch it right now below:

In true Peter Jackson style this looks like a technical marvel. Beautiful art direction and cinematography, which you can tell just from the trailer. The score and editing and the trailer make it seem more like a horror/thriller than I think it actually is.

This will make a dent in the Oscar columns to be posted later this week.

  • Looks fan-friggen-tastic.

It’s an amazing book and the movie has a TON of potential. I couldn’t think of a better director than Jackson.

The Wahlberg-casting aside, it’s perfectly set up; although there is a TON of pressure on Susie’s younger sister – Lindsey (played by a relative unknown, Rose McIver) – to excel in a brutally tough role.

Nevertheless, behind the Hurt Locker, this is my most anticipated film of the year.

    Can’t wait…

The book is not “amazing”. It was very good, but I’ve read many better novels. I don’t see what the problem is with the Wahlberg casting. He looks fine to me. Can’t wait for this film, either. Should be awesome!

  • I found it to be “amazing”. I loved the perspective, the author’s personal link to the story (which I heard her discuss at a book reading), and I felt it ended much better than I anticipated such a book too (especially regarding one death).

Of course there are better novels, but I don’t find this one not to have the qualities necessary for me to deem it amazing.

I like Wahlberg, but am not sure this role is meant for him. I hope he does well, channeling the talent he’s shown in Three Kings and Boogie Nights. I still would’ve preferred Gosling, but understand why Jackson made his change/choice.
