Trailer for ‘This is 40’ Reveals It Is the Sort of Sequel to ‘Knocked Up’

The marital boredom battling couple that were a highlight in Judd Appatow’s 2007 film Knocked Up are about to make a return to the big screen. Paul Rudd will be reprising the role of Pete and Leslie Mann will be reprising the role of Debbie for This is 40, which is set to hit theatres this Christmas. Appatow returns as writer/director and actors like Jason Segel, Charlene Yi, and Appatow’s own daughters will be returning to the cast. They will be boosted by an impressive ensemble of newcomers including Lena Dunham, Megan Fox, John Lithgow, Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, and Albert Brooks.

The first trailer for the film made its debut on Apple Trailers today and it appears to pick up right where Knocked Up left off. Debbie and Pete are still refusing to admit their age with Debbie lying to doctors about her birth year and Pete nearly picking a fight with the mom of one of his daughter’s friends. The film appears to have strong writing that will get a natural delivery from Rudd and Mann. I could watch the two of them on screen any day.

Take a look at the trailer below or watch it in high definition on Apple Trailers.

This is 40 will be in theatres in the U.S. on December 21, 2012.
